Worcester take on Brooke House College

Today we welcomed Brooke College to our Perdiswell pitch on a cold and bright autumn morning.

Q1 - Worcester started uncharacteristically slowly although took the lead after a good interplay between Olly Berry and Matty Patrick-Rivers. Matty headed the ball into Olly’s path and Olly calmly lifted the ball over the advancing keeper. Worcester scored a second soon afterwards and it was the same combination of players that came up trumps again. Matty this time squared the ball from the edge of the area and Olly was on hand to finish low and hard at the back post. This was a little harsh on Brooke College who’d had a number of chances themselves but failed to trouble Ben Clay in the Worcester goal. 2-0

Q2 – The second quarter saw the opposition again have a few chances although Worcester started to find their rhythm and as the quarter wore on, Worcester started to dominate. The game was being fiercely contested by both sides. 2-0

Q3 – Brooke College pulled a goal back early in the third quarter with a shot from the edge of the area which flew past George Bourne in the Worcester goal although this just seemed to spur the home side on. Almost straight from the kick off, Worcester extended their lead after some tricky play by Tristan Webby who took the ball round the keeper, squared the ball to Tom Mills who thumped the ball into the roof of the net from close range. Worcester were now in control of the game and started to get their trade mark passing game together. It was no surprise when they got a 4th goal after Matty Patrick-Rivers powered past his marker on the half way line and drove with the ball to the by-line whereupon he crossed the ball to Cam Montieth who was on hand to knock the ball in unchallenged at the back post. 4-1

Q4 - The final quarter was dominated by Worcester who had a number of good chances which were squandered. Tempers became a little strained and the away side conceded a number of free kicks and it was from such a free kick that Worcester got their 5th and final goal of the day. Olly Berry hit a great free kick goal-wards which was well saved but Tom Mills was on hand to slot home the loose ball from close range. 5-1

Whilst the game was a friendly, it was well contested although Worcester deservedly won the day with some good football played, especially in the second half.
