Match report by Tristan Webby

It was a cold Saturday afternoon and Worcester City faced up against Millfield in what looked likely to be a great match.

1st Half
Millfield started the quicker side and within minutes caught a sleeping Worcester team with a ball in behind which was swept across for the opener of the game. Worcester, determined to get back into it, upped the intensity and although after dominating most of the half with good passing possession, couldn’t break down a very well structured Millfield side. The half ended 1-0 to Millfield.

2nd Half
Worcester quickly found their rhythm again and got what they deserved when a superb Olly Berry corner was met by Tom Griffin who powered the ball into the back of then net. 1-1. Full of confidence, Worcester quickly got another when Olly Berry latched onto a through ball and finished with a lovely chip over the onrushing keeper. 2-1 to Worcester. Credit to Millfield, they didn’t give up as they surged forward in hopes of a goal in the last 10 minutes. In the last minute, Millfield looked certain to score, but the heroics of Ben Clay secured the win for Worcester as he leapt across the goal to turn a terrific effort wide in the last moments of the match.

The game was played by two great footballing sides and we look forward to the return fixture next year.
