Match report by Daren Mills

Today we welcomed Bath for a friendly on a wet and cold October morning.

Q1 – Worcester started strongly and dominated the early stages of the game with their trademark passing style. Against the run of play, Bath took the lead after the ball was only partially cleared out of defence. The ball was swung back into the box for a Bath player to sweep the ball home at the backpost. 0-1

Q2 – The second quarter saw Bath in the ascendancy although Worcester equalised from a Tristan Webby free kick which found Josh Schuck in the penalty area. Josh turned and put a well placed shot on the volley under the keeper. Almost immediately from the re-start Bath re-took the lead following a defensive mix-up and a keeper mistake which culminated in the Bath forward bundling the ball over the line from close range. Shortly thereafter Bath should have gone further into the lead after they were awarded a penalty which was well saved by George Bourne. Bath did further extend their lead shortly before the half-time whistle when Worcester failed to clear properly from a corner and the ball was lashed into the top of the net from the edge of the area. 1-3

Q3 – After strong words at half-time, Worcester started the third quarter in determined fashion and enjoyed more of the play although Worcester were unlucky to go further behind after good wing play and a pinpoint cross which was headed home by the Bath forward in the six yard box. Despite playing well, Worcester were unable to find a way back into the game. 1-4

Q4 –The final quarter saw Worcester dominate for long periods and Matthew Patrick Rivers was on hand to divert the ball home following an Olly Berry shot. Worcester scored a third soon after with a fine flowing move which found Matthew on the edge of the area and his cross found Jack Baker who fired home. Any hope of a Worcester equaliser was dispelled shortly before the final whistle when the Bath forward latched onto a fine through ball and calmly rounded the Worcester keeper and rolled the ball into an empty net to seal the victory. 3-5

This was an entertaining game played by two good sides and we look forward to the re-match!
