Match report by Daren Mills

Today we made the trip to Nottingham to play a strong Nottingham side who had already beaten us earlier in the season. The pitch was in good condition despite it having rained heavily overnight.

Q1 - Worcester came out of the traps quickly and caught the home side napping. With only 1 minute 30 seconds on the clock the ball was played through to Tom Mills by Matty Patrick-Rivers. Tom knocked the ball out of his feet and placed a pinpoint shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area. A great start to the game from Worcester! Worcester rode their luck a little for the remainder of the quarter as the home side went close on a number of occasions. 0-1

Q2 - Worcester were far better in the second quarter and started to control the game. It was no surprise when Worcester got a second after a good move which culminated in Olly Berry finding Matty Patrick-Rivers with a clever pass. Matty latched onto Olly’s through ball and raced clear of the Nottingham defence. He then lifted the ball over the head of the advancing keeper and into the empty net. Worcester got a third soon afterwards after a strong run down the line by Tristan Webby who beat his man, cut inside the penalty area and squared the ball across the box to Tom Mills who had the simple task of scoring from close range. 0-3

Q3 - Worcester were now comfortable and try as they might, the home side could not find a way past a resolute Worcester defence and even when the Nottingham attackers did get free, Ben Clay expertly swept up behind his defenders to repel any danger! In fact it was Worcester who went close to extending their lead when Curtis Turner went close on a couple of occasions.

Q4 - In the final quarter the heavens opened and the game became much more disjointed with numerous free kicks being awarded. Worcester remained strong and comfortably saw out the remainder of the game with no real further opportunities for either side. 0-3

This was an excellent performance by Worcester who went top of the table with this result.
