Match report by Tristan Webby

Worcester made the trip to Kenilworth to play the Solihull Moors U18 Floodlit League team on Saturday morning in what proved to be a hard fought game played by two good teams.

Both teams started strongly, and only good saves made by both keepers kept the game at 0-0. However the deadlock was broken in the 16th minute when the Solihull striker was given enough space to power his finish into the roof of the net. 1-0. Bouncing back, Worcester stepped up a gear and quickly found their passing game again but just couldn’t beat the keeper. 1-0 at half time.

Worcester came out fighting in the second half and dominated most of the possession. After 35 minutes of prying and persistence, Worcester finally got what they deserved when a well worked move ended up with Matt Patrick-Rivers being brought down in the box. Matty calmly slid the penalty into the bottom corner making the game 1-1 with 10 minutes left.

Now sensing an opportunity to win the game, Worcester launched wave after wave of attacks onto the Solihull defence. Solihull however would not lie down and replied with a series of attacks of their own which eventually led to them winning a corner. The corner was swung in and after a goal mouth scramble the ball was poked into the net to make the game 2-1 with only seconds left.

It was an even contest by two teams both playing fantastic football. We wish Solihull all the best for the rest of the season.
