Worcester welcomed Rugby Borough to The Dell Stadium for their first floodit game of the season.
First Half
Rugby Borough started much the better team and took a very early 2 goal lead as a result of 2 good finishes. 0-2 inside 15 mins. This spurred Worcester on and they soon replied with a goal of their own following a Tom Mills through ball which was calmly slotted into the corner by Matty Patrick Rivers. 1-2. Rugby however regained their 2 goal lead 10 minutes before half time. 1-3 at HT.
Second Half
Worcester came out firing in the second half and quickly began to peg Rugby back with dominant possession and an intense high press. This was made possible by a Worcester defence which looked impenetrable the whole of the second half. City’s constant pressure paid off when Matty Patrick Rivers latched onto another Tom Mills through ball, skilfully rounded the defender and placed the ball into the back of the net. 2-3. Now in complete control, Worcester launched attack after attack on the Rugby defence, and soon scored their third after Tom Mills , yet again the provider, beat his man in the penalty area and slid the ball to Matty Patrick Rivers who completed his hat trick with a close range strike. 3-3. Worcester completed their brilliant second half comeback with yet another goal by Matty Patrick Rivers with Tom Mills again the provider. Matty latched onto Tom’s through ball and smashed the ball past the keeper. 4-3. Worcester soon put the game out of Rugby’s reach following a brilliant strike by Mati Klich which rebounded off the bar straight to Haris, who finished into the empty net to give Worcester the comfort of a 2 goal lead. The game ended 5-3 to Worcester City.

This was a fantastic game played by two sides who looked to play sharp, attractive football and was a pleasure to watch. We wish Rugby Borough all the best for the rest of the season.
