Match report by Alex Round

Today Worcester city welcomed Halesowen Town Colts to Perdiswell.

The result decided who finished third for the first half of the season before the leagues were shaken up, Worcester are ruing missed opportunities in recent weeks, firstly letting a seemingly comfortable lead against Birmingham city slip, secondly a cruel equaliser again Stourbridge last week, if these results had gone our way we would of finished second and gone into the elite playoffs. It wasn’t to be but today was a chance to cement our position and reputation amongst the best in the league and country at our age group.

With that being said Worcester started well, neat passing play as always, pressing high and keeping the width. After a fine start the game became a little frantic, with what rested on the result, but city took the lead with a neat finish from Bora Sahingoz into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.

Halesowen rallied after the break, hitting it long and trying to capitalise on defensive misjudgments, but city extended their lead early in the second half with a high press and a neat finish from Thomas Gnyla.

Halesowen got one back with a soft penalty near the end but the boys hung on for the win and finished the first half of the season on a high.

Thank you to all and well done all the boys who can enjoy the Christmas break with a neat win under their belts.

On we march.
