Doyle Hat Trick seals the points

The u12's continued their winning start to the league season with 5-0 victory when they travelled to Rushall Olympic
Q1 The city boys started the game on the front foot and dominated the midfield with the centre duo of Kyle Clayton and Adam Willis pulling the strings and winning the early battles. In the 3rd minute a great run by Clayton ended with a slide rule pass to Rafe Green but the striker delayed in getting his shot off and then home defence recovered conceding a corner which Green headed wide from. Some slick passing between Jake Brookes, Clayton and Jo Layland resulted in Layland whipping the ball into the box but the home defence snuffed out the danger. The home side looked dangerous on the break and their lively number 10 broke clear on two occasions but he was denied both times by Zac Watkins in the Cty goal.

Q2 Much like the first quarter City were dominating the play but were lacking the final ball and conviction in front of goal. Liam Rickets rasping drive was easily saved by the home keeper. The introduction of Ash Doyle in the 10th minute and a change of formation seemed to give the visitors a much needed push and Doyle opened the scoring in the 36th minute. Willis won the ball in midfield and put Doyle clear of the last defender and he slotted the ball home past the advancing keeper. Further chances from a Doyle header and a Green shot were easily dealt with by the home keeper who was looking solid in goal

Q3 Then visitors were now in total control of the game and a well struck free kick from Clayton was again well saved by the keeper. However city doubled their lead in the 45th minute after Clayton was brought down in the box and Doyle fired home the resulting penalty. Two minutes later Doyle completed a fine hat trick with a clever flick past the keeper from a Liam Ricketts cross. Hayden Russell had a great chance to add to the score but his well timed header just went wide. City secured their 4th goal in the 56th minute when Clayton laid the ball back to Centre Half Jay Bennett outside the box and he unleashed an unstoppable strike into the top right hand corner. The quarter ended with Rafe Green completing the scoring with a low drive from the right

Q4 The final quarter saw the home team defend stubbornly against relentless city attacks and once again the home keeper pulled off some fine saves from efforts from Adam Willis and Henry Guy. The home side created a couple of chances but nothing that troubled Louis Hudson in the City goal. Their best chance of scoring was dealt with by two fine blocks by Josh Sanders as the game ended in a well deserved victory for the visitors
