Match report by Mark Andrews

Another fantastic performance for the boys today, they started so fast with Ethan's run sucking the defence out of position before squaring the ball for Marcel to open the scoring, Alf then wiggled past 2 in the box to fire the second one home, before Ethans lay off allowed Alf to drive at them to score with a great effort and he then completed his hattrick moments later when Marcel this time provided the pass as the boys were playing some fantastic football.

The next goal signalled the introduction of an extra player for Brandhall, but it made little difference as Zayne sent Marcel away to score with an unbelievable effort, before completing his hattrick with his right foot after a great angled ball from Logan to send the boys in happy at the break.

Brandhall agreed to bring on an extra player at half time to help make the game more competitive, but despite their 7v5 advantage, their goal came from a wild clearance that somehow rocketed from their backline all the way into the top corner of Chris's net!!

Normal service was resumed when Alf grabbed a double courtesy of Ethans hard work to keep pressing their defenders into mistakes, but the real drama came in the closing 5 minutes, when Alf hacked down their forward in the box, the spotlight quickly turned to Chris who anticipated the pen superbly to not only save the effort but to block the rebound as well!! Chris then showed great reflexes to tip a super free kick on to the bar before bravely diving at the feet of their oncoming forward as Brandhall were finally starting to have some joy and eventually grabbed their 2nd in the closing seconds after the ball somehow found it's way over the line.

I know I'm a very demanding coach, performance not winning is my main focus, I want see a performance that shows we are heading in the right direction to deal with the demands of playing tougher teams and competing at the highest level we can and today despite my picky nature, I couldn't fault the boys at all, their effort and energy was amazing, with their decision making improving every week, I'm very excited to see how far we can take these boys.

Chris made some great distributions to get the boys moving quickly in a fairly quiet opening 20/30 minutes, but stayed alert to pull off some top, top saves late on as the boys came under a little pressure. Great double penalty save before somehow tipping a super free kick on the bar to deservedly earn his 1st man of the match award.
