Worcester City YC U9s vs Perdiswell Colts Ospreys U9s

Worcester City Youth Colts U9s team had a tough match in their first home game of the season when they hosted the Perdiswell Colts Ospreys U9s team at Perdiswell Leisure Centre on Saturday 7th September 2019.

Prior to the match, Captain Ethan gave a rousing speech to the rest of his team. Perdiswell put City under early pressure straight from the whistle but some momentous defending from Tom, Max and Joel and the rest of the City team kept the visitors from scoring until late into the first half.

City displayed some good passing and movement up and down the pitch, along with some good running along the wings from Toby & Hayden and felt disappointed to go into the half time break trailing.

Perdiswell netted again mid-way through the second half but City rallied and after some good passing by the team from defence to the forwards; Thomas battled to win the ball on the edge of the box before making a pass to Ethan who poked the ball past the Perdiswell goal keeper to register City’s first goal of the season.

Perdiswell were awarded a penalty late in the half for a hand ball and this was struck home past Ewan the City goal keeper; despite his valiant efforts to keep it out.

Well played Perdiswell and good luck for the rest of the season. The match was watched by a few dozen respectful spectators who enjoyed an entertaining game of football. After his great performance in the match and during training last week, Tom was awarded the Captains armband for next week’s match. Thanks to all the City parents for their help on match day.
