First Half
The match began with City on the front foot and all the early chances were falling to them.

In the 2nd minute, City had their first chance to open the scoring. Olly picked up the ball half way into the Tigers half and ran at the defence. He managed to negotiate his way between two defenders and as he ran into the penalty area, he unleashed a shot but unfortunately it went just wide of the post.

In the 3rd minute, City had another chance to open the scoring. Olly again found himself with the ball running at a Tigers defender, he managed to turn the Tigers player and this left him with a clear shot at goal. Unfortunately his shot went just wide again, but Olly was doing great to get into those scoring chances early on.

In the 8th minute, City had another chance to open the scoring. Theo and Olly combined down the right hand side of the pitch with some one touch and one-two passing which ended up with Theo taking a shot at goal just inside the Tigers penalty area. However, the Tigers goal keeper managed to save the strike.

In the 16th minute, City had another chance to open the scoring. Ethan picked up the ball in the centre of the pitch and ran to the edge of the Tigers penalty area before striking at goal; unfortunately the shot went just wide.

In the 17th minute, the Tigers team had a clear cut chance to open the scoring. From a crossed corner ball, the ball pin-balled around the penalty area and ended up a metre from the goal after a number of attempts to clear it from danger by the City defenders and goal keeper. However, it was Theo who managed to get the final kick of the ball out of play with a deft back heel as Tigers players bore down on him and would have certainly scored if not for his interception.

In the 18th minute, City had another chance to open the scoring. After a pass back to the Tigers goal keeper in which he couldn’t collect the ball with his hands, Toby challenged him and managed to win the ball before striking at goal, however the shot went just wide.

In the 23rd minute, City had another chance to open the scoring. Tom in the City goal collected the ball in his hands after a Tigers attack, seeing Max making a run into the Tigers half, Tom kicked the ball long and Max ran onto the ball. As Max entered the Tigers penalty area, the Tigers goalie advanced and he shot but the ball went just wide.

In the 24th minute, and at the seventh time of asking, City got the first goal of the match. Max picked up the ball on the right hand side of the pitch and around the half way line, on his way into the Tigers penalty area he side-footed the ball around a defender. As he approached the penalty area, the Tigers goal keeper rushed out to cut down the angles available for a shot, however Max was more than ready for this and again side-footed his way around the keeper leaving himself with a simple pass into an empty net, which his great dribbling skills deserved (that was Max’s first goal of the season).

Second Half
In the 29th minute, the Tigers team come close to opening their scoring account. The Tigers team had managed to get the ball into the City penalty area and one of their players took a shot from close range whilst being challenged by a City defender, the shot struck the top left corner of the goal and went out of play.

In the 36th minute, City created a chance to score but no one was available to finish it off. Ewan picked up the ball on the left edge of the Tigers penalty area; he was being closely pursued by a Tigers defender and ran the ball towards the goal line. As he reached the goal line, he managed to flick the ball pass the defender and then crossed the ball directly in front of the goal. At this point the Tigers goal keeper had moved out from his goal expecting the ball to be cut back and this meant the goal was undefended, but unfortunately for City none of their players were able to get to the ball to tap it home.

In the 38th minute, City came close to scoring again. Toby found himself with the ball near the left edge of the Tigers penalty area and almost at the goal line, he managed to put a cross into the area immediately in front of the goal and running in to meet the cross was Max. He pulled off a one-touch shot from near the penalty spot but the strike went just wide of the post.

In the 41st minute, City came close to scoring again. From a route one kick out from Tom in the City goal, Max ran onto the ball and upon entering the Tigers penalty area he pulled the trigger and took a shot. The Tigers goal keeper pulled off a great save to deny Max another goal.

In the 49th minute, Tigers scored their first goal of the match. Over the final ten minutes of the match, the Tigers players began putting in a number of crosses into the City penalty area and some drifted close enough to the goal to be shots. In their final effort at scoring, a Tigers defender hit a long range shot/pass from half way into the City half. The ball launched into the air and appeared to destined to go over the bar, but unfortunately for City it dropped at the last second into the top left corner of the City net despite the best efforts of Tom in goal and Joel in defence trying to keep it out.

Well played Tigers and good luck for the rest of the season. The match was watched by a couple of dozen respectful spectators who enjoyed an exciting game of football. All the City players put in great performances in the game but it was Max who was awarded man-of-the-match.

Thanks to all the City parents for their help and support on match day.
