Colts v Typhoons (05/10/19)

The Colts under 11's team enjoyed a positive morning at a bright and breezy Perdiswell Leisure centre on Saturday with an assured performance and good result over Nunnery Wood Colts Typhoons. The Colts had found themselves luckless in their previous league outings, but a dominant first half display saw them lead at the break, with Dylan glancing a header into the far corner from a pinpoint corner supplied by Harry. The lead could have been greater had it not been for an outstanding performance from the Typhoons 'keeper with both Louis and Josh being denied goalscoring opportunities. Cameron was then forced to make a smart save with the first half coming to a close, but Colts ended the half with their noses in front.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Colts dominance finally paying off when Caleb drilled into the net from the edge of the area. Typhoons pulled a goal back when an angled effort evaded everyone to sneak in at the far post to set up a nervy finale, and only some heroics in the Typhoons goal denied George a spectacular lobbed goal.
Colts were particularly impressive in the way they held their shape and the ball-winning ethos will be a key element to success in upcoming fixtures. Ollie, Reggie and Dylan in defence looked impressive and the workrate of the midfield 4 of Josh, George, Caleb and George was equally as pleasing. On another day Louis may well have netted a hat-trick but it wasn't to be.
