This week saw us come up against a very good Pro Pathway. The first third was evenly matched with a good competitive game. The opposition took the lead but was pleasing to see the boys respond and were on top for the remainder of the third. The opposition goalkeeper, a clear contender for the man of the match, pulled off some brilliant saves to keep the scoreline within touch at the end of the first third.
The second third took a similar pattern to the first, but as the game wore on they began to take control of he midfield area and we couldn’t get our passing going in the face of some excellent pressing. Our decisions under pressure, which were excellent in recent games, deserted us and we struggled to assert any sort of pressure. Pro Pathway made excellent work of their territorial advantage and scored again just before the break.
We asked for, and got a response from the boys into the final third. Despite this we were hit on the break and the opposition finished the game off.
It was not meant to be and the boys will have learned a lot of lessons about doing the basics well as we head into a two week break.
GOLD
Dylan battled hard and won his personal battles, was always available and put in the level of shift that should be standard for the boys.
SILVER
Will deserved silver for a good game today, calm on the ball and winning most of his personal battles.
Bronze
Another decent performance from Jack, who is really growing into his defensive role and duties. Always happy to join an attack and work hard to get back.
We have some work to do on the training ground as we see the standard required to compete in the JPL.
