Back with a bang!

The lionesses took on Kingfisher yesterday.
After a delayed strange and chaotic start to the match with 2 girls unable to turn up due to illness just before the match throwing initial game plans out of the window with girls playing in new positions they hadn’t played in before. At times there looked to be a few worried faces on the girls and parents.
It was fair to say the match didn’t start the best. The lionesses conceded a goal to go one nil down very early on. The girls just didn’t seem up to the speed of the match.
The girls had 2 choices. One to accept it and carry as they were playing or to change their mentality get stuck in, trust in the recent change of playing style, speed up and work hard for a result.
Luckily the girls rose to the challenge and played with confidence in their own ability, taking their time on the ball and playing real pass and move football finding space wherever possible.
It was a pleasure to see a smile on the faces of the girls as the lionesses roared to a 9-2 win.
There were 4 well taken goals from Maisie 'Jacko' Jackson, 4 for captain marvellous Thea Richmond and a final goal for midfield Marshall Lily Widmer.
The girl of the match was a very hard choice as all the girls played superb, never gave up, continued playing the ball on the ground whilst some of them playing in positions they hadn’t played in before.
The man of the match was well deserved and went to Thea.
It was also nice at the end that the girls had lovely words of praise and encouragement from Nigel Upson the head of youth development at Worcester City Youth FC.
Keep up the good work girls.
