It was a beautiful warm sunny spring Saturday morning for the Lionesses first league game coming out of covid. It was an away game against our local rivals Nunnery Wood Colts with Tori deputising as captain.
The game started off in fine form with a good even battle.
The first goal of the game went to the Lionesses on 7 mins with a goal from Jacko.
The Lionesses were playing good passing football but seemed a little slow to get to the ball and in possession of it.
The next goal was a very well taken long range effort coming for one of the longest serving players and the first time she’s scored in a match, Izzy. A shot from the edge of the 18 yard box that went in off the post that brought a tear to Gary’s eye.
The second half continued with the better passing game from the Lionesses but Nunnery being the quicker team to the ball.
Another goal nearly came from Eva this time as she seemed to do all the hard work by dribbling from her own half and beating most of the Nunnery team to shoot straight at their goal keeper.
The scoring did come for the Lionesses on 45 mins with a goal for Eva and then a second goal for Jacko.
Player of the match went to Izzy Morris for a composed game taking her time on the ball to pick out a pass, scoring a goal and setting up 2 goals.
