City make the trip to The Victoria Ground, Bromsgrove this evening in the final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup, to face a Pershore Town side who entered the competition as the lowest-ranked side. Impressively, both teams have seen off higher-ranked oppositions in spectacular fashion on their routes to the final. The Plumbs picked up victories against Bromsgrove Sporting, Redditch and Lye Town, whilst City saw off Bewdley Town, Evesham United and Kidderminster Harriers to set up this evening's clash.
City Manager Tim Harris expects it to be a tough game. Speaking earlier today, Harris said: "They're a very good team and we are well aware of their strengths. We're going to have to play to the very best of our ability this evening, and we aren't going to underestimate them or take them lightly. It looks set to be a fantastic spectacle and we're really looking forward to the game. I am sure we are going to see strong City support at Bromsgrove later. Hopefully, we can give The Faithful a victory for their magnificent support all season."
City roll in to the tie in strong goalscoring form, having bagged 14 goals in the last 3 games, having only conceded 1 at the other end. The last time out on Saturday saw The Blue And Whites comfortably win 4-0 at Claines Lane against Wolverhampton Casuals. Pershore's last 3 games have all involved penalty shootouts in cup competitions, winning 2, including a victory over Lutterworth Town, who City faced earlier in the season in the FA Vase.
Both Ben Tilbury and Jude Hill miss out this evening due to being cup tied, and it's likely Will Gibbons, who was carried off in the final stages on Saturday, will also be out with suspected ankle ligament damage. There are still doubts over James Douglas, who will again go through a late fitness test this afternoon.
