City head into Saturday's re-arranged FA Vase clash with Sleaford Town on the back of seven straight wins in all competitions, and aim to round off October with a perfect 100% record.
Following the midweek Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup 4-0 win over Calne Town, Chris Cornes' men will look to continue their impressive winning streak against the United Counties Premier Division side. Sleaford currently sit in 7th place in their division, also at Step 5, with a record of six wins, one draw, and six defeats from their 13 games played. They overcame Ollerton Town 6-0 in the previous round of the FA Vase, and play in the same division as Sherwood Colliery, City's opponents in the FA Cup earlier this season.
Our visitors have only won once in their last four games in all competitions, and have lost their last three league games. They were most recently in action on Wednesday night in a 5-2 defeat to Melton Town.
City's own fixture on Tuesday evening was the first fixture for ten days after the postponement of last weekend's fixture. Jamie Insall, Lorcan Sheehan, Liam Lockett and James Batchelor were on target in the 4-0 away win over Calne, with Sheehan and Batchelor notching their first goals for the club. Cam Monteith returned to the starting line-up for the first time since the 5-3 away victory over Westfields in the previous round of the competition, coming in to replace the suspended Adam Mace and gaining valuable minutes. Connor Gater started for the third game in a row and now seems to be fully recovered from the injury that kept him out for a number of weeks.
Jamie Insall got his first goal for the month of October, whilst Liam Lockett got his thirteenth of the season in all competitions and now leads the way in City's goalscoring chart for the season so far.
Should City progress on Saturday they will set up a 2nd Round tie away to Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday 11th November. Wolves Cassies themselves overcame Whittlesey Athletic 3-1 last Saturday.
