It's another break from league action this midweek for City as Cinderford Town visit in the Marsh Challenge Cup on Tuesday evening, for a 7.45pm kick off at Claines Lane.
The club's exceptional winning run in the Hellenic Premier Division came to an end on Saturday afternoon as City were held to a 1-1 draw by play-off chasing Slimbridge, becoming only the third side to take points from Cornes' men in the league this season. Tuesday will see the start of another 10 day break from league football, however, with the FA Vase fixture versus Boston Town on Saturday, before a visit to Highworth next Wednesday evening.
The starting eleven were rotated on Saturday afternoon with Cam Monteith, Izak Reid and Elliott Hartley brought into the side in place of the suspended Adam Mace, and unavailable Kyle Belmonte and Dylan Hart.
James Batchelor impressed when coming off the bench on Saturday, and with the more high-profile FA Vase fixture on Saturday, as well as league priorities, it may be an opportunity for Batch to get more minutes under his belt as the fixtures begin piling up.
As the calendar moves forward into December, City face a gruelling 12 games in 35 days from 2nd December to 6th January.
Chris Cornes' squad strength will be key heading into this busy period, and youngsters like Batchelor and Reece Day may look forward to more minutes over the next few weeks. City fans will also have been delighted to see another through the Youth ranks, Lucas Colley, make the bench on Saturday.
Cinderford Town come into this one on the back of a 3-2 away league victory over Wantage Town on Saturday afternoon, and currently sit in 11th place in the league table, having played the same amount of games as City. This will be both City and Cinderford's first games in this season's competition.
