A rest for City still feels like a long way off despite being at the end of the season, with the final few games coming thick and fast for Chris Cornes’ side, with Mangotsfield United the visitors for the penultimate home game of the 2023/24 campaign.
Following Tuesday night’s Worcester derby win over Raiders, City have moved on to 91 points in the league, and with four games remaining have a very real possibility of reaching an incredible 100 points, if they were to win three from the final four games.
The goals were shared between Hart, Hartley, Belmonte and Insall on Tuesday evening, with Insall’s return a huge boost to the team following a lengthy spell out of the side, and being slowly integrated back into the fold recently.
Our visitors Mangotsfield sit in 13th place in the Hellenic League Premier Division with this their final game of the season, knowing that a point would also see them finish 12th in the table above Westfields.
It’s been an impressive season for their striker Jadyn Crosbie, who has notched 36 goals in 46 appearances this campaign, which sees him currently tied level with Kyle Belmonte on league goals with 28 for the season.
Kyle drew level with Crosbie on Tuesday with a well-taken goal in the Raiders win and will be hoping to secure that golden boot over the next four fixtures.
Liam Lockett, himself just three goals behind Belmonte in all competitions, returned to the starting line-up on Tuesday after missing the previous two matches, a boost for the final few.
The club are also delighted to be returning to Claines Lane on Thursday evening for the first time since early March. A painfully wet winter has badly affected the surface but it will be fantastic to see The Faithful out in numbers to welcome the return home of the Champions.
