Match Preview by Lewis Howarth
City are back in league action this weekend as they travel to Hereford Pegasus. Worcester will be looking to continue their record-breaking 16 game winning streak in all competitions, and in addition will be looking to knock Corsham Town off of first place in the league table, who sit one point ahead of City in the league, whilst City still have five games in hand.
Meanwhile our opposition, Hereford Pegasus currently sit 10th in the league, are eight points outside of the play offs and will be desperate to get another three points and get closer to those spots. They head into the game on Saturday in a good run of form winning three of their last five games, with their only defeat coming in a 3-2 loss to Cinderford Town FC despite being 1-0 up at half time.
The two sides have only met once this season in all competitions which was the reverse fixture in the league, which saw City win 3-1 at home with Belmonte opening the scoring, Lockett getting the second and Hartley rounding off the game with a third in the 82nd minute in front of 389 supporters.
Of course, the danger men for city will be the men on fire all season, Liam Lockett and Kyle Belmonte, with over 60 goals this season between the pair. Pegasus' danger man appears to be Cawley Cox, with 20 goals this season, including one in the reverse fixture against City. In addition, he has four Player of The Match awards this season and sits seventh in the race for the golden boot.
This will be another tricky test for City and a potential banana skin with Pegasus in good form. City head into the game four days off of a thrilling 2-1 Wiseman Lighting Floodlit Cup Final, First Leg win and will have their attention fully focused on their league title charge this Saturday.
The game will kick off on Saturday 16th March at 3pm at Pegasus' The KGD Stadium, Old School Lane, Hereford, HR1 1EX.
