City look to get back to winning ways in league action on Wednesday evening as they head to Highworth Town for a 7.45pm kick-off.
With the recent cup action and the unfortunate postponement of last weekend's FA Vase fixture, it's now been almost two weeks since City's last league fixture against Slimbridge, the 1-1 draw at Claines Lane. The Faithful will look to return to winning ways should the game go ahead after a 2.30pm pitch inspection on Wednesday afternoon at our host's stadium.
Last time out, which feels like much longer ago but was actually only last Tuesday evening, City ran out 4-3 winners over Cinderford Town in the Marsh Challenge Cup after an entertaining second half which included six goals and a red card for Cinderford's striker. Manager Chris Cornes will no doubt look for his side to make a return to the solid defensive displays which have seen City only concede 12 goals in the Hellenic League, by far the best record in the division.
Highworth Town, meanwhile, are the only side in the division to have played fewer games so far this campaign than City, at 15 fixtures, and were last themselves in league action on the 25th November also, when they drew 2-2 with Lydney. They were victorious on penalties in their own FA Vase fixture on Saturday away at AFC St Austell, winning 3-1 after a 3-3 draw in normal time to progress to the next round.
Despite having played less games than the rest of the league, Highworth do possess one of the division's top marksmen in Joshua Davis, who is on 13 in all competitions this season. That number does still see him behind three City attackers, Lockett, Belmonte and Insall, but highlights him as a man to be aware of for Cornes' side.
Despite the set back of the 1-1 draw with Slimbridge, City are still the in-form side in the Hellenic Premier Division, having won 11 of their last 12 games in the league, not tasting defeat since August. City also haven't dropped a point as of yet away from home this season, with a perfect record of six wins from six games.
