On Saturday afternoon, Worcester City travel to Townsend Meadow to take on Racing Club Warwick in the first of their final three league games.
City were the victors the last time the teams met way back in August. A goal each from Elliott Hartley and Kyle Belmonte, followed by a late own goal from Warwick saw City to a 3-1 home win over The Racers.
Chris Cornes’ men have gone three games without a win in the league but will come into this game riding the momentum of their 3-1 win over Alvechurch in the final of the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup. The team will be full of confidence, having beaten a team from a step above them in the football pyramid.
Racing Club Warwick are currently 10th in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division, out of reach of the play-off places, and miles away from any relegation battle. Warwick won their last game, a 1-3 away victory over Long Eaton United, and will be dangerous as they can play without any pressure.
Worcester’s dip in form in the league has seen them drop into 5th place on 66 points, with 5th being the final qualifying spot for the play-offs. Sporting Khalsa are in 6th, with their highest potential points total being 71, so Worcester currently need two wins from their last three games to guarantee their place in the play-offs.
Racing Club Warwick play at Townsend Meadow, Hampton Road, Warwick, Warwickshire CV34 6JP.
