Worcester City cruised to a comfortable 1-0 win in the Southern League Premier Central at home to Royston Town.
City had the first chance to break the deadlock when full back Jordan Lymn whipped a ball into the area, with Dan Sweeney’s shot held by Reuban Rabstein in the Royston net.
Soon after, City did break the deadlock when a floated set piece was nodded into the far corner by Harry Burns as the winger scored his second goal in two games at Sixways.
City had a great chance to double their advantage when winger Liam Lockett laid the ball off to Nathan Hayward, who saw his effort saved by the keeper.
As the first half ticked on, City continued to control possession and created a flurry of opportunities in a commanding spell.
Worcester again came close to a second on the 45 minute mark when Liam Lockett rounded the keeper but could only find the side netting from a tight angle, sending City into the break 1-0 up.
As the second half got underway, Royston had a close chance to level when forward Reece Nicholas-Davies fired a shot at Price’s near post, with the in form keeper parrying the effort for a corner.
With 15 minutes remaining, City were still pushing to double their lead, although Royston were defending well and starting to hold City at bay.
On the 77 minute mark, Lockett had his best chance of the game when he was played through on goal, but his effort was caught by the visiting keeper.
With two minutes left on the clock, Royston tried a shot from the edge of the area and Price pulled off an outstanding save to keep the score at 1-0.
Despite several efforts late on to grab a second, Worcester had to settle for a 1-0 victory.
Worcester City will be back in action on Tuesday 2 December with a visit from Pershore Town in the Worcestershire Senior Cup at Sixways.
