The second half saw City mainly on the front foot but it was the visitors who nearly extended their lead when Dan Jezeph produced another fabulous save to deny Aaron Bishop.
But with 12 minutes remaining City drew level. A long throw from the right was flicked on by a defender into the path of Sean Brain who headed home from two yards out.
City pressed for the winner and Craig Jones had a glorious chance but his header was saved by Tom Turner.
Deep into injury time Wulfrunians were reduced to 10 men when Craig Gregg was shown a red card for grabbing the face of Sam Hall.
