City went down to a 4-1 defeat at a rain soaked Lye.
Backed by a large following who made up the majority of the crowd, City failed to perform and were put to the sword by a Lye team which included former striker Jordan Harrison. Lye should have had more but struck the woodwork twice, one a thunderous strike from 30 yards from Cartwright which almost shattered the bar and deserved a goal.
The Home side raced to a 3-0 half time lead, the first when Harrison did well in the box before setting up Sam Tye who was completely unmarked waiting on the edge of the box to have a free shot at goal.
Sam Prince added a second with a tap in at the far post before Jamie Smith almost replied with a superb free kick which bounced off the bar which also deserved more.
Joe Colley added a third when his low driven pass forward from 35 yards out to Taylor who then dummied Nat Kelly and the ball ran all the way through into the net.
City slightly improved in the second half but the play was frantic at best with little composure, however a lifeline was thrown when Sean Brain fired home from close range with 20 minutes to go only to be thrown away when Marco Adaggio pushed Jordan Harrison in the face right under the nose of the Referee as City players tried to retrieve the ball for the re-start.
The fourth came with 10 minutes to go when Harrison lifted the ball to the back post for for Prince to score with a diving header.
Tyreace Brown picked up a second yellow card for fouling Sean Brain with four minutes left then in injury time Harrison should have made t 5-1 when through one on one but Mountjoy saved well only for the the ball to fall to Jordan Davies who missed an open goal.
