City landed their first league win of the season on another rain soaked Claines Lane after defeating Highgate 3-1
A first half goal from Romario Martin was answered by three second half City goals from Luke English, Sean Brain and Aaron Roberts.
After a lovely day in Worcester, the rain swept in for most of the match as it has for the past few Wednesday games but all City spirits took a massive boost with the win.
City started well enough without creating any clear cut chances and the Highgate goal came out of the blue when Romario Martin picked up on a mistake from Tom Turton before turning and hitting an unstoppable drive from 30 yards out which the visitors took into the break.
City needed an early second half boost and it came after an intense few seconds which left most City fans thinking it was going to be another night when the ball just wouldn't go into the net. A short corner found Jamie Smith whose blistering shot bounced off the bar before falling to Aarron Roberts, his goal bound shot was blocked, falling to Sean Brain whose attempt was cleared off the line, but the ball fell into the path of City's player of the year for the past two seasons Luke English whose header couldn't be stopped.
Within 12 minutes City took the lead. After a long punt forward from City keeper Dan Jezeph which beat the last defender falling into path of Sean Brain who was clattered over in the box by Fenney. Brain then stepped up to smash the penalty straight down the middle.
Highgate tried to pull the goal back but City stood firm and the third came in added time after a fine team move involving Josh Willis, Chris Withington, Dave Reynolds and Jamie Smith who set up Aaron Roberts who finished from 12 yards out.
