City stormed back with two goals in the final 10 minutes to take the points in this Midland Football League game.
With four players who have progressed from the Youth / Reserves set up in the squad, it was Josh Schuck who led the way with a combative performance throughout the game in the middle of the park.
The home side got off to a good start with Alex Hughes forcing City keeper Brendon Bunn into a save on 7 minutes with a long range effort, City then went straight back up the other end to see Matt Klich shoot from 12 yards out to be easily saved by Alport keeper Mason Springthorpe and in the same passage of play Bunn pulled off a great save with an outstretched leg after Hughes was put through one on one on 9 minutes. Alport continued to push forward and were rewarded on 23 minutes when Temi Ajibola fired into the bottom corner after Antonio had his effort blocked from an Alex Hughes cross on the left after City failed to clear.
The game flowed from end to end with Alport looking more dangerous and they were denied again when an Alex Hughes cross from the left to the back post was headed clear by Jake Whitehouse.
On 52 minutes Alport thought they had doubled their lead. A free kick from the half way line on the right was pumped forward into the City box and flicked into the path of Joe Minshall who smashed the ball into the roof of the net only to be denied by the offside flag. A minute later Griffiths fired over the bar from an Antonio cross, then on 57 minutes Minshall's header was cleared off the line from James Douglas for City who was clinging to the back post.
On the hour mark Sam Hall was introduced replacing James Douglas . City then started an intense period of pressure and on 63 minutes created a golden opportunity to draw level. Matt Klich was put through on the left after good work by Archie Muirhead but his effort was saved by the legs of Springthorpe in the Alport goal then a minute later Billy Shaw headed narrowly wide from a Luke English cross. The game continued to go from end to end and on 69 minutes Alport had another great opportunity when City lost possession on the half way line. The ball fell to Jud Ellis who saw Bunn off his line and his effort from long range cannoned of the bar.
The last 20 minutes saw City push Aaron Roberts into Midfield alongside Josh Schuck leaving three at the back. A barrage of constant pressure on the Alport goal forced several corners before Chris Sterling was introduced on 77 minutes. City continued to press but couldn't quite make the break through. Then on 82 minutes, it finally came. Another good City move on the right resulted in Josh Schuck shooting from inside the box, his shot was diverted onto the bar by Alport defender Annikey who blocked a rebound from Billy Shaw but it fell to Chris Sterling who pounced on the loose ball to finish from close range. In the goal mouth scramble Alport keeper Springthorpe dislocated a finger causing a stoppage of several minutes.
On 87 minutes Springthorpe pulled off a finger tip save to deny Craig Jones' header which was flying into the top corner from a long throw in by Luke English, then into added time Dan Westwood was put through wide on the left, he linked up with Billy Shaw who fed Chris Sterling with his back to goal. Sterling turned well to get off a goal bound shot which deflected off a defender past a stranded Springthorpe to make it 1-2.
With seconds remaining, City gave away a needless free kick from 25 yards out but Alport's goal bound shot from Urvantev was plucked out of the air by Bunn to deny the equaliser and give City all three points.
