City produced arguably their best performance of the season to run out 4-1 winners against Stone Old Alleynians at Claines Lane.
On a wet day which affected City's attendance, there were debuts for Bailey Fuller and goalkeeper Adam Harrison and both fully contributed to the win which saw City in control for the majority of the game.
City went straight onto the front foot from the whistle with Dimitri Dunkley having a great chance in the first minute only for Oliver Davies to get just enough on the ball to divert a fierce shot over the bar. The opener came in the 10th minute, Adam Harrison getting his first touch started the play which resulted the ball being moved quickly forward. Chris Withington then played a ball from the centre of the pitch to Jamie Smith who drove the ball forward to Dan Westwood who provided a perfect flick into the path of George Baker who slammed the ball into the roof of the net.
There were further shots from Chris Withington and Dimitri Dunkley before the visitors had their first opportunity through Jack Tomlinson just inside the box but Jamie Smith got a block in, City won the ball back through Bailey Fuller who worked well on the left before setting up Billy Shaw who raced into the box before getting a shot off which went inches wide of the post .
The second came on 34 minutes with Stone pushing forward. City again won the ball back before Jamie Smith, Bailey Fuller and Billy Shaw combined perfectly before Jamie Smith put a superb ball forward into the path of Billy Shaw who finished from close range to make it 2-0.
Another good move down the right saw George Baker cross to Bailey Fuller who cushioned a header back across goal, beating the keeper only for a defender to make it back in time to clear.
Just before the break Stone had a glorious opportunity to pull one back after a neat passage of passing saw Jack Tomlinson pull the ball back from the goal line into the path of William Bailey forcing City keeper Harrison into a fantastic save, City then broke forward quickly which resulting in Billy Shaw going inches wide.
The second half saw City get off to a dream start. Another great move involving Chris Withington, Dimitri Dunkley and Jamie Smith saw the latter thread another brilliant ball through splitting the Stone defence into the path of Bailey Fuller who scored his first goal for the club on his debut from close range.
City had further chances before the fourth was added in the 66th minute. Bailey Fuller was brought down on the edge of the box wide on the right. From the resulting kick, Jamie Smith's goal bound shot was flicked on by Dan Westwood for his fifth goal of the season.
With the game sewn up City made a series of substitutions which saw a loss of fluidity and the visitors got more into the game, going close with a long range free kick. Then in the 89th minute they finally pulled one back. A long ball forward down City's left saw Fortune Maphosa slip on the wet surface when completely alone allowing Jack Tomlinson to get a shot off which was parried away by Harrison back to Tomlinson who then pulled the ball back to Sam Wilson who slammed the ball home from the seven yards out to make it 4-1.
