City produced their best performance of the season to come away with all three points at a previously unbeaten at Home Boldmere.
With injuries and absences which saw no Bailey Fuller, Chris Sterling or Dan Westwood City boss Tim Harris was forced into a re-shuffle which saw Aaron Roberts taking the number 9 shirt and Sam Hall coming in at centre half leaving City potentially facing a tough afternoon. However, in reality it was the complete opposite as they were first to everything all afternoon giving the Mikes no quarter as they were relentless hounded at every opportunity.
City got off to a great start and were close within the first minute after a ball played across the front of home 18 yard box by Pedro Lima was picked up by George Baker who unleashed a drive from 25 yards out which was heading for the top corner before being saved by keeper Dan Crane.
City were relentless with pressure and the Mikes were restricted to the odd break out and their first opportunity was from a 25 yard shot from Alex McSkeane but his shot trickled through to Adam Harrison in the City goal.
The opener came on 25 minutes, City won a throw wide on the left which saw Jamie Smith play back to Fortune Maphosa who then played a perfectly waited ball from the outside of his right boot through into the edge of the box to Billy Shaw who was left one on one with Lima, Boldmere called for a foul on Lima who then had plenty of time to clear before standing on it leaving Shaw clear to cross into the box, the ball was stopped by defender Bowen but it was bundled over the line by the incoming Aaron Roberts.
Minutes later City broke down the right with Aaron Roberts nodding onto Billy Shaw who switched to George Baker wide on the left, he got off a goal bound shot but it cannoned off the back of Jake Powney going inches over the bar and out for a corner.
On 33 minutes, City were reduced to 10 men. With the ball out of play and Boldmere setting up to defend wide on their left, defender Bowen went down holding his face, the linesman called the Referee over and Dimitri Dunkley was shown a straight red card.
The red card set the rest of the afternoon up to be fiery as minutes later Mcskeane was booked for a late challenge on George Baker.
The second half saw City potentially up against it with one player down, but the exact opposite occurred with City continuing to be first to everything leaving the hosts with little time on the ball where it mattered. The atmosphere picked up and it felt more like a Cup tie with City's support cheering the team on.
The second goal came on 63 minutes. Boldmere worked the ball forward down the right before George Baker nicked the ball off Powney on the edge of the City box into the path of Chris Withington who then passed to Aaron Roberts who held it up before going back to Baker, his long ball forward into the Boldmere half was picked up by Billy Shaw who combined well with Chris Withington who had raced forward from the edge of his own box, he then played Shaw back in on the right, who then came back inside to set up Roberts on the edge of the box who smashed the ball home on the half volley into the bottom left corner giving Crane no chance sending the large travelling support wild with joy.
Boldmere's best chance came after their best spell in the game saw Bowen loft the ball goal bound into the path of City keeper Adam Harrison who appeared to have been fouled but there was no whistle, the ball fell to McSkeane whose header then hit the bar before City cleared.
There were further chances for City, Fortune Maphosa heading just wide from a corner then Billy Shaw heading wide and Boldmere had a couple of half chances but at no stage did City look like they were a player down, closing down Boldmere all over the pitch and giving them little time and comfortably closing the game out.
