City made it five wins out of six on the road after two goals within a minute secured all three points at Romulus.

Aaron Roberts returned for City but as with recent games injuries affected the line up as Fortune Maphosa withdrew through injury.

The first half was one largely to forget although City did get the ball in the net after 15 minutes when a quick burst down the left saw Will Gibbons pull the ball back from the goal line into the path of Bailey Fuller who made half a connection before Billy Shaw finished, only for the linesman to signal that the ball had gone out of play.

The best chance for Romulus saw Khail Harrison send a through ball on the left into the path of Owen Watkins but City keeper Adam Harrison was quick off the line before making himself big to stop the goal bound shot.

Just before the break City won a corner which was caught cleanly by Roms keeper Josh Benton who punted the ball down field to Watkins who beat Sam Whitton to the ball just over the half way line but was then brought down by Chris Withington. The home fans and players called for a red card but the Referee pulled out a yellow.

The second half saw Romulus win a free kick within seconds of the re-start which was sent forward by Zia but Watkins header was high and wide. From the resulting goal kick City lost the ball midway in their half but Romulus chose to go backwards & Khail Harrison then Zia played the ball all the way back to keeper Benton harried by the City midfield & forwards of Billy Shaw, Bailey Fuller and Will Gibbons. Benton then miss kicked his clearance straight to the feet of Will Gibbons who was left one on one, he was then forced wide before pulling the ball back to Billy Shaw, six yards out. He then took a touch before finishing past the scrambling defence.

Within a minute, it was 2-0. Straight from the kick off Roms played the ball down the left which was cleared for a throw-in. City won the ball back before Chris Withington sent a perfect ball forward down the right into the path of Will Gibbons who outran the defence supported by Fuller and Shaw. Gibbons then pulled the ball back to Shaw who fed Fuller clear on the left who passed the ball easily into the goal.

From then on it was City who stepped up their game for the rest of the half, pressing forward and closing down Romulus at every move who looked more & more dejected as the game went on. Will Gibbons had a decent shot saved by Benton after another good move down the middle of the pitch before Chris Withington sent a shot high over the bar after a goal mouth scramble.

Romulus made changes in an effort to pull a goal back but City had another glorious opportunity on 70 minutes after a defence splitting ball from Chris Withington sent through to Bailey Fuller on the edge of the box who then forced Benton into another good save.

Romulus won a series of corners and free kicks but the City defence marshalled by City captain Aaron Roberts stood firm to see the game out to cement City's place in the top four.
