Bailey Fuller was the star of the show as City romped to a 6-0 win v Bewdley Town at Claines Lane in front of another record attendance at City's new home. His first half hat-trick was followed up by a fourth early in the second half before Fortune Maphosa and Will Gibbons finished off the scoring.
With The Club celebrating community ownership, a crowd of 710 were treated to a goal fest with the first coming for City after just three minutes. From the kick off Bewdley failed to touch the ball in City's half before the first goal came. A throw-in on the left found Chris Withington who played sideways to Aaron Roberts, his through ball forward was met by Bailey Fuller who made no mistake for his first of the game.
City had further chances through Billy Shaw who had two one on ones with the Bewdley keeper Joe Sidaway who saved well on both occasions. At the other end Kyle Belmonte forced Adam Harrison into a save from a long range shot outside the area.
On 28 minutes it was 2-0. Bewdley keeper Sidaway's clearance was met by Chris Withington just inside City's half, he headed forward which was picked up by Will Gibbons, he turned quickly before sending a ball over the top which Bewdley failed to clear & the ball fell to Bailey Fuller who had time to compose himself before smashing home from the edge of the box. A minute later Bewdley lost the ball easily on the right and Will Gibbons stormed forward before firing high over the bar.
At 2-0 Bewdley were looking shaky in defence playing a high line, but they looked like they could pull a goal back and should have done on 36 minutes. With City on the attack Bewdley cleared forward to on the left to Dylan Hart before his goal bound shot was smothered by Adam Harrison. City had another opportunity straight back up the other end but Will Gibbons was adjudged to have fouled Sidaway. However, his free kick forward from his six yard line was met by Aaron Roberts on the half way line and his powerful header forward bounced once 10 yards outside the box before being met by Bailey Fuller who lifted the ball over the advancing keeper from the edge of the box to make it 3-0 and a first half hat-trick.
Bewdley had another chance to pull one back just before the break after winning a free kick mid way in City's half. A whipped in ball by Ollie Mulders was met by Fortune Maphosa straight onto the head of Josh Carpenter but his header cannoned off the bar before being cleared by Sam Hall.
On 49 minutes City added a fourth. With Bewdley again on the attack, Fortune Maphosa won the ball before going wide on the left to Billy Shaw, he came inside to James Douglas who switched to Bailey Fuller on the far right on the box, he then came inside before unleashing a drive from just inside the box past a flat footed Sidaway.
To their credit Bewdley didn't give up and it was clear to see at stages why they had scored so many goals recently, however they were unable to convert any. Their next chance came with Hart having a glorious opportunity from eight yards out after good work on the left by Carpenter however his shot saw a sliding in Sam Whitton get a touch on the ball diverting it onto the bar before being cleared.
On 59 minutes Bewdley were reduced to 10 men. Cameron Monteith, who had replaced Callum Debar at half time, set Will Gibbons clear and defender Jack Knott made two attempts to bring Gibbons down before finally doing so just outside the box for which he received his marching orders. From the resulting free kick Bewdley cleared to midway in their half which was met by Fortune Maphosa who stormed forward before unleashing a daisy cutting drive from 25 yards out to make it 5-0.
Maphosa was then replaced by George Baker and a minute later City added a sixth. A Bewdley attack down the right saw the ball go through to Adam Harrison. He played out to Aaron Roberts who moved forward before finding Billy Shaw wide on the right, he then sent the ball into the box which was met at the front post by Will Gibbons to make it 6-0.
After the sixth the game fizzled out with half chances for both sides who made further changes, City's best chance coming through Chris Withington but his effort was saved by Sidaway, but with the game in the bag City ran down the clock to see out the game.
