City made it four wins on the bounce after stunning visitors Whitchurch Alport with a second half onslaught.
The visitors came into the game with a winning run of four games and with with City losing Fortune Maphosa midweek who signed for Telford United and Aaron Roberts missing through suspension, it looked like it would be a stiff test. However the City young players had also been up against it on several other occasions this season and were raring to get stuck into the challenge.
The first half was largely one to forget with both sides unable to get hold of the ball and with Whitchurch happy to keep possession in their own half, City were more than happy to allow them to do so. Sam Hall , Jake Whitehouse, Callum Debar and Sam Whitton stood solid all afternoon containing the Whitchurch forwards and giving City keeper Adam Harrison a relatively quiet afternoon. The best chance of the half fell for City after Chris Withington passed to Will Gibbons who spun well before setting up Bailey Fuller who raced into the box before unleashing a right footed drive which beat keeper Allen but cannoned off the upright.
The second half saw Whithchurch switch to a back four from from the back three in the first half half and City soon pounced to take the lead on 53 minutes. Playing out from the back down the left hand side saw George Baker, Billy Shaw and Will Gibbons combining well to get the ball into the box, Whitchurch had two opportunities to clear before Billy Shaw crossed in from the left to Bailey Fuller, who picked the ball before firing into the bottom right hand corner.
Alports best chance of the game saw a free kick played in from wide on the right by top scorer Alex Hughes deep into City's box which saw a looping header from Joe Minshall force Adam Harrison to punch the ball away.
The visitors who had league top scorer Alex Hughes in their ranks had few opportunities and after making a substitution were soon 2-0 down. This time the goal came down the right hand side but once again saw City move the ball forward quickly. Bailey Fuller received the ball on the right hand touchline before coming inside to link up with James Douglas, who worked a quick one two before Fuller played a deep cross into George Baker, he pulled back to Will Gibbons who squared to Billy Shaw who smashed home into the roof of the net.
With the visitors struggling to keep up with City's pace a third was added on 79 minutes. Another quick move forward saw Billy Shaw race forward after receiving a flick on by Will Gibbons, Shaw picked out Bailey Fuller on the right who pulled the ball back to the incoming Gibbons who finished off the move with a great finish to make it 3-0.
George Baker and Will Gibbons were once again involved in the build up for the fourth goal. Baker picked up the ball on the half way line then dribbled forward to the edge of the box before playing a short ball to Gibbons who took the ball towards the goal line before pulling back to Bailey Fuller. Fuller had a defender and the goal keeper Ellis Allen blocking his view of goal but sent off a curling shot with crept inside the post for a sublime finish.
The final few minutes saw Archie Muirhead and Jamie Smith introduced but the game was well won at this point to City keep up the pressure on the top two sides.
After the final whistle Whitchurch substitute Amaenku was shown a second yellow card after clashing with City players.
