City kept in the hunt for a play off place after a 2-1 win at Highgate United.
Craig Jones joined Mike Fowler to take charge of the Team with Tim Harris away & his unbeaten run in charge continued. There was also a new addition to the squad with Jude Hill joining from Kidderminster Harriers.
After a fairly even start City had the first opportunity after 10 minutes when Ben Tilbury took aim from the edge of the box but his shot was easily claimed by Highgate keeper Reece Francis. Then after a solid spell of pressure Reece Taylor-Randle crossed from the left into the box looking for Callum Debar who was pulled down by Shearer right on the edge of the box. Archie Muirhead then stepped up to thread the ball around the wall into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
Two minutes later City almost added a second. Good work from Callum Debar and Bekir Halil saw the latter pick out Archie Muirhead at the front post but his effort went agonisingly wide. Then five minutes before the break City had another golden opportunity when Reiss Taylor-Randle played a superb cross field ball into Archie Muirhead on the right, he came inside to set up Chinedu Osadebe but his effort wasn't strong enough to beat Francis.
Highgate rarely broke into City's box in the first half although they did have a claim for a penalty turned down by the referee just before the break after Shearer claimed that be had been tripped, however the fact that he tripped himself up probably swayed the decision.
The second half saw Highgate much brighter and they started to give City more of a test. On 54 minutes another run down the left by Shearer saw him storm into the box and after a shoulder to shoulder contact with Callum Debar saw him take a tumble for a penalty. Marselia stepped up to place the ball past Adam Harrison who was sent the wrong way to make it 1-1.
Chishom then had a good opportunity after Pulisciano whipped a free kick in from the left but his header wasn't strong enough to beat Harrison.
At the other end Bekir Halil had an opportunity from a free kick after Sam Whitton was brought down on the edge of the box but his curling effort went high over the bar. In the very next passage of play Highgate pressed forward but the City defence stood strong and eventually Fortune Maphosa launched the ball forward from just inside the box deep into the Highgate half. Archie Muirhead won the ball in a tussle with two defenders before playing inside to Ben Tilbury, who passed to Reiss Taylor-Randle, he checked inside before shooting from the edge of the box, the ball took a bobble, beating an outstretched Francis to make it 2-1.
Highgate desperately tried to pull a goal back with a sustained spell of pressure, City breaking out on one of the attacks through Archie Muirhead who drove forward before being cynically taken out by Pulisicano who was lucky to stay on the pitch.
Highgate forced two late corners which saw keeper Francis go forward but City stood strong to see the game out.
