City bounced back after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at AFC Wulfrunians to pick up three points at the expense of fellow promotion contenders Shifnal Town at Claines Lane. After going behind after a 15th minute goal scored by Andre Brown, City notched two before the break and withstood a late barrage to claim the points in front of a crowd of 401.
City boss Tim Harris stuck with the same team that faced Wulfrunians, but went behind in the 15th minute after Matthew Barnes-Homer put a ball through to Andre Brown who made no mistake from the edge of the box.
City sparked into action soon after with Bailey Fuller being the main threat down the right hand side, forcing George Scott into a great save on 22 minutes. The equaliser came in the 27th minute after Reiss Taylor-Randle picked up the ball in the middle of the park, he then threaded a ball through to Bailey Fuller who got in behind the Shifnal defence before unleashing a perfectly aimed left footed shot into the top corner.
On 30 minutes, it was 2-1 to City. Will Gibbons won the ball just outside the Shifnal Box, he was tackled but the ball went straight to Archie Muirhead who went sideways to Taylor-Randle, he dribbled into the box before sending in a curling shot across the goal which was saved by Scott but only into the path of Will Gibbons who followed up to bundle the ball into the goal.
With City completely on top, Bailey Fuller was denied after a great tackle inside the box on 38 minutes, then on 45 minutes Archie Muirhead was put through by Taylor-Randle on the left but his shot hit the side netting.
The second half started off as a scrappy affair, but City did get another good opportunity on 56 minutes when James Douglas played a great ball to Sam Whitton but his shot went straight at the keeper. This was followed up by two further chances, the first from Muirhead who had a great opportunity to make it 3-1 but he didn't get a shot off when clear in the box and was closed down by keeper Scott.
With 65 minutes on the clock the visitors started to come back into the game. Sheridan Martinez blazed over the bar on the left after receiving a great ball from Callum Graybrook then there was a golden opportunity for Andre Brown who headed over from six yards out with the goal open wide.
In the 80th minute Graybrook beat Debar to the byline before rolling it to Brown who had another open goal in front of him but Debar threw himself in the way to block a certain goal. City were hanging on as Shifnal threw the kitchen sink towards the goal and Sean Jones had the next chance hitting the bar with a header.
With time ticking by, Shifnal started launching aimless balls forward in the last few minutes which made it easier for the City defenders to win the ball back and gain a bit of possession, managing to run the clock down deep inside the visitors half. Bailey Fuller was put through on the right deep into added time, taking the ball to the corner flag, winning a free kick and calmly seeing the game out.
