Due to a waterlogged pitch we had to rearrange this fixture to play in Pershore on the 3G. It was a mild, sunny afternoon and our opponents had travelled a fair way for this early afternoon fixture.
1st quarter - Worcester started very well and passed the ball around creating space but Stroud's defence were well organised, thwarting several attacking moves. Worcester were unhindered and two tremendous shots rattled the woodwork , a great effort from Benny hit the crossbar and Kane's shot smashed against the post. With Stroud's keeper on his toes the quarter ended 0-0.
2nd quarter - Stroud started well in this quarter and started to penetrate Worcester's final third. Worcester maintained the pressure and Mac called upon the Stroud keeper to make his first save with a bullet of a shot heading in to the top right corner. Continued pressure proved fruitless with the Stroud keeper standing firm. 0-0
3rd quarter - This quarter changed the game. Stroud pressed Worcester's final third and took the lead with a fine finish in the top corner. Within five minutes the same happened again. 2 great goals by Stroud who took the chances opening up for them, ending the quarter 0-2 .
4th quarter - Worcester came out positively and continued to play passing football, maintaining their discipline. The Stroud keeper was in fine form and despite best efforts Worcester failed to score. There was plenty of pressure from Stroud who were determined to keep their momentum going. Joel pulled off some outstanding saves to keep Stroud at bay.
Stroud were defensively strong throughout this game with some good technical skill in advanced areas. Worcester really enjoyed the challenge Stroud gave us today, they have some strong boys and are managed in the right way. Looking forward to playing them again soon as these are the type of games you want to be involved in
