Quarter Final cup success

Cheltenham v Worcester - Cup Result 1-10 A break from league duties saw a rearranged game taking place at Tewkesbury school 3G and while the scoreline may not reflect it the game was competitive from the start. Both teams started at a quick pace with some good passing movement, trying to find a way through the defense. It was Worcester that would open the scoring with a good strike from the edge of the area before adding to their total with a good passing movement down the right wing, the initial shot was saved but Worcester were quicker with the rebound to score. Cheltenham did not let their heads drop and indeed came out in the second quarter looking even more determined that before, and indeed had chances to get back into the game with some good through ball and crosses into the box which tested the Worcester goalkeeper. However despite the pressure coming from Cheltenham, Worcester would add to their goal tally with two more goals before half time. Worcester continued to show their dominance after half time and would add three more goals in the 3rd quarter, all goals of some quality. Cheltenham would get a consolation goal with a fantastic strike from a free kick after the goal keeper was judged to have handled outside of the box. Indeed Cheltenham could have had a second when again a mix up with the Worcester defense meant a pass back was picked up only for the resulting free kick to rattle the post. Worcester would add two more goals in the last quarter of the game as Cheltenham's legs started to run out after matching a strong Worcester team. Both teams were credited with playing good attacking football but it was ultimately the team from north of the M5 who would go through to the next round.
