Match report by Scott Fenn

City kicked off the second half of their JPL season with a 1-0 win in a scrappy contest at Solihull Academy.

Jamie Hill, who returned from several weeks out with a fractured jaw, notched the only goal in the third quarter with a superb free-kick.

On a difficult surface, both teams struggled to keep possession and much of the game was contested in midfield areas.

City can be pleased to keep their first clean sheet of the season, especially as they played this fixture without a recognised keeper as stand-in Alex Fenn dealt well with everything that came his way between the posts. They also battled well, particularly in the final quarter, when the hosts couldn't get any foothold in the game as they tried to push for an equaliser - the main moment of danger being thwarted by a brilliant last-ditch tackle by Ben Taylor.
