Match report by Scott Fenn

Two late goals from Harry Rebbeck saw a determined City come from behind to win a closely-fought JPL League Cup clash with Gloucester City.

Both strikes came in the last 10 minutes and, although the winner was somewhat fortuitous, the victory was just reward for a dominant second-half performance.

Worcester started the game brightly and Rebbeck had a couple of early chances before the visitors got a foothold in the game and the balance of play swung in their favour.

A break down the left wing seemed to have been thwarted by the home side but, despite several opportunities, Worcester were unable to clear their lines and were punished as a Gloucester player was able to shoot home.

Kyle Shaw shot narrowly wide at the end of the first-half as Gloucester went into the break with the advantage, whilst the second began with the visiting keeper smartly tipping over a Rebbeck drive that arose from a short corner.

As Worcester worked hard to create openings, Gloucester defended resolutely but clear-cut chances were few and far between. A gilt-edged one did fall to the industrious Ed Bowers but he hit over from close range.

However the hosts didn't give up and a flowing move resulted in Rebbeck firing a well-deserved equaliser.

With three minutes to go and the tie then seemingly heading for penalties, a goalkeeping error saw Rebbeck pounce and roll the ball into an empty net to clinch Worcester’s place in the next round.
