City vs RTC Birmingham

Yet another windy morning at Perdiswell as City welcomed RTC Birmingham St Georges for a close-fought game.

Playing with the wind in their favour for the first quarter, the visitors opened up a three-goal lead although the home side could count themselves somewhat unfortunate with the scoreline after a bright opening which they probably shaded.

A tidy finish from inside the lead gave RTC BSG the lead, which they extended with a poor goal from City's point of view as they left a man free to drill home from the edge of the box. The third was curled spectacularly into the top corner with the help of the wind after the winger cut in from the left wing.

After Jamie Hill forced the RTC BSG into a good save low to his left at the start of the second quarter, the visitors took the ascendency and threatened to extend their advantage before being thwarted by the post on one occasion and Christian Carter in the home goal who made a couple of decent saves as City did well to prevent falling further behind.

Once the sides changed around and City had the wind at their backs, the game swung back in the hosts favour as they piled on the pressure - the industrious Hill hitting the woodwork, Nathan Wood narrowly shooting over and then somehow the ball being kept out during a frenetic goalmouth scramble.

Just as it seemed the ball would never go in for the hosts, the RTC BSG backline misjudged a long clearance in the breeze at the start of Q4 which Harry Rebbeck ran onto and scored.

However with City chasing the game, their opponents held firm and finally broke away to clinch a 4-1 win with a few minutes remaining.
