Swift strike gives City win

Match report by Scott Fenn
City enjoyed the experience of playing on a non-league pitch when they were invited by Stourport Swifts to play a midweek friendly at their Walshes Meadow ground.
A competitive clash saw the visitors emerge victorious courtesy of Jamie Hill’s early hit from distance which caught out the home keeper – one of several strikes that the midfielder had during the first-half.
On a heavy surface, City played some nice football at times but the hosts also had their moments – particularly in the latter stages of the opening period when they forced several corners.
A solid defensive display ensured stand-in goalkeeper Alex Fenn was generally well protected but City certainly had to be on their guard as Swifts continued to strive for an equaliser right until the final whistle without really creating any clear-cut opportunities.
A good, hard-fought match for both sides. The fixture survived a mid-afternoon pitch inspection so many thanks to Stourport Swifts for hosting on their main ground and the post-match hospitality.
