Grubb grabs point with set-piece treble

City stormed back from 0-3 down to grab a point with a spectacular last-gasp equaliser from Charlie Grubb against Coventry Sky Blues, which completed a hat-trick for the midfielder.

The hosts showed fantastic spirit to battle back and snatch a share of the spoils after looking dead and buried when they conceded a third goal in the Q3.

With great delivery throughout, Grubb got his team back in the game - albeit somewhat fortuitously - when he scored direct from a corner.

With his team-mates energised and the visitors jittery in the final quarter, he curled in a free-kick from the left touchline and then, with seconds remaining, smashed in a stunning free-kick from the edge of the D.

After a fairly even opening quarter, the visitors took the lead when they found space on City's left and evaded several challenges to tap-in.

Shortly after Jesse Asomugah had shot over for the home side, the Sky Blues doubled their lead with a tidy passing move across the pitch which ended with a low shot into the corner.

City skipper Cian Sheehan forced the Cov keeper to tip over his left-footer and then a marauding run from Will Sankey created a shooting chance for George Hymas as the hosts fought back.

Sky Blues nearly extended their lead at the start of Q3 when they shot off target with the net gaping but, despite Jamie Hill testing their goal, it wasn't long until they did grab a third when they broke quickly from defending a free-kick in their own half to slot home after a great through ball.

But City didn't give up and, thanks not only to their hat-trick hero but the efforts of all the team, gained a great point to build on in their upcoming fixtures.
