Asomugha the hat-trick hero in City victory

Jesse Asomugha grabbed a hat-trick as Cityy finished their JPL Cup campaign with a 4-3 win over Herefordshire FA BDC.

After a sluggish start, the hosts woke up as their talisman forward struck twice in the opening quarter. He latched onto a George Hymas through ball to divert over the visiting keeper before putting the finishing touch to a superb crossfield move as he neatly diverted Flynn Sheridan-Waring's pinpoint cross into the net.

City then spoiled their first quarter showing as they let Herefordshire draw level in the second period with two sloppy goals that galvanised their opponents.

The third quarter was fairly even until Asomugha completed his hat-trick as he leaped high to nod a Hymas free-kick into the net.

The striker set up Fabian Hook to score the fourth but, credit to Herefordshire, they continued to battle and pulled back a third deep into the final quarter.

City kept their opponents at bay though to clinch the three points which will hopefully set them up for the next phase of JPL competition in two weeks' time.
