City Youth News

After their morning match against Stourbridge, the focus of Worcester City Youth’s under 10s switched from the onion bag to shopping bags on Saturday.

The squad spent their afternoon bag-packing at the Sainsbury’s store in Blackpole where the generosity of shoppers generated £255 for team funds.

In another clash between City and the Glassboys at under 18 level, Worcester ran out convincing winners. First-half goals from Joshua Shuck, Tom Mills and Matty Patrick-Rivers put the hosts 3-0 up at the break and in control before an own goal and late strike from Olly Berry cemented an emphatic 5-1 victory.

The under 18 girls maintained their title push with a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with AFC Telford.

An excellent all-round team display with man-of-the-match Jacob Keane to the fore in central midfield saw the Reserves hit Wyrley for six. There were two goals apiece for Josh Willis and Joel Owusu in the 6-1 triumph as Liam Lockett and Ethan Moran also netted.

Two scrappy contests at Perdiswell saw the under 14s beat Rushall Olympic 2-1 with goals from Jesse Asomugha and Jay Dimmock, whilst the under 13s lost 1-2 to Alvechurch despite a superb long-range effort from Saeed Khattak.

Elsewhere the under 10 girls enjoyed a share of the spoils in their game with Kingfisher and the under 11s turned in another solid showing in their fixture versus Stoke RTC.
