Worcester City Youth kicked off their NERF Junior Premier League campaigns with some eye-catching performances from several sides.
The Under 18s fielding a host of 15-year-old players within their ranks put in a great team performance to beat Bustleholme 4-1 with the highlights including two goals for Olly Berry and a penalty save from keeper Ben Clay. The result followed the 6-2 win over Rugby Borough Juniors in the Floodlit League a few days previously.
The immaculate pitches at Perdiswell also brought mixed fortunes for three other City sides.
Man of the match Bora Sahingoz bagged a hat-trick for the Under 12s in a 6-4 win over Herefordshire RTC in a game that saw another City penalty save this time from Joe Tipper, whilst the Under 15s collected an impressive 4-0 victory over Alvechurch. The Under 13s found their first taste of competitive 11-a-side action to be a tough baptism of fire though as they were soundly beaten 12-0 by a well-drilled Hereford side.
In their first JPL game, the Under 10s made an excellent start against Stoke RTC.
Away from Perdiswell, the Under 18 Girls also got their season underway in style in the Central Warwickshire League with a 5-1 success at Sedley & Gornal United. City’s Reserves were unlucky to only draw 4-4 in a physical encounter at Knowle, where they conceded an injury time equaliser after battling back from being 0-2 down.
