"Former Cheltenham winger and forward signs"

City have this afternoon completed the signing of winger and forward, Jamal Lawrence.

Gloucester-born Lawrence was handed a two-and-a-half year professional contract by the Cheltenham in January 2015.

He made one substitute appearance for the first team at AFC Wimbledon before being released by new manager Gary Johnson the following summer.

After a break from football, Lawrence appeared against a young Robins side for Tuffley Rovers, scoring twice in a 4-2 defeat for the Hellenic League Premier Division side.

Lawrence is a former Gloucester Primary Schools representative player, who appeared for Bishop’s Cleeve during his time in Cheltenham’s academy. He also played for Hungerford Town, Oxford City and had a trial at Hereford in the summer.

With this signing and with many comments between City supporters we must clarify the below, which has been noted in a number of interviews with the management team.

Cam Walker, James Timmins and Brad Reid were all signed by the Club on dual registration purposes from Stourbridge. Stourbridge remain the parent Club and therefore have first choice on these players. In the case of Brad he is taking a break from the game.
