Today Worcester welcomed Forest Green Rovers on what was a warm and sunny November morning. It had rained heavily over night but the ground was still firm.

Q1 - Worcester were quickly out of the blocks and following a flowing move took the lead on 34 seconds. The move started with a strong run down the left wing by Prince Henry who beat his marker and put a firm cross along the edge of the six yard box. The ball was only partially cleared to the edge of the area and Tom Mills was on hand to fire a screamer into the top corner of the net. This was just what the home side needed to settle their nerves! A second goal quickly followed when Joe Palmer latched onto a long through ball from Harry Williams, rounded the on rushing keeper and placed a low shot into the empty net. The away side were a little shell shocked but continued to try and play good football. 2-0

Q2 – Worcester continued where they left off in the first quarter, and a third goal was added by Olly Berry who outpaced his defender, following a through ball from Joshua Schuck and calmly chipped the keeper. Forest Green did not crumble and felt that they should have been awarded a penalty just before Worcester added a fourth goal to their total. The goal was scored by Finn Syson who expertly placed a shot over the keepers head and into the corner of the net after the ball had broke to him on the edge of the area. Right on the half time whistle, Worcester scored a fifth following good wing play from Tristan Webby who twisted his way into the box and found Olly Berry at the back post in an unmarked position who smashed the ball into the empty net. 5-0

Q3
– This was probably Forest Greens best quarter, although the homeside were wasteful with a number of chances. Forest Green reduced the deficit with a well taken finish, and this was the only goal of the quarter. 5-1

Q4 – Worcester became more clinical in the last quarter and added three further goals to their tally. The first scored by Prince Henry with a tap when a Tom Mills shot was saved by the keeper, the second a Tristan Webby tap in following strong wing play from Prince Henry and the third a Joseph Palmer lob which went into the goal off the underside of the bar. 8-1

This was a dominant performance by the home side although Forest Green battled to the end and didn’t let their heads drop. We wish them well for the rest of the season.
