After a long 2hr drive to Egham, Worcester got ready to play Escolla Futsal in a match we knew was going to be hotly contested.
Worcester started with the upper hand, controlling the possession and looking dangerous going forward. Their early pressure was rewarded when Matty layed the ball off to Finn Syson whose superb strike found the top right corner of the goal from outside the box. 0-1 after 2 minutes. Early Worcester pressure also resulted in a couple of good shouts for a penalty, which were waved away by the ref.
Escolla quickly found their feet, and strung together numerous sets of well worked advances but Worcester’s defence held firm and Escolla couldn’t find a way in. 0-1 HT.
Worcester quickly regained control in the second half and after numerous attacks their efforts were rewarded when the Escolla Centre Back was forced into an own goal after good pressing. 0-2. Now hungry for another, Worcester surged forwards and found the net again when 5 minutes before FT, Josh Schuck found Tristan Webby on the left wing who drove inside and neatly finished into the bottom corner. 0-3 FT.
It was an excellent game played by two good footballing sides. We wish Escolla all the best for the rest of the season.
