Worcester City 2 Holbeach United 0

City moved into the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup after overcoming a plucky Holbeach United.

Goals in each half, one from Daniel Nti in the first followed up by a second from Deon Burton in the 64th minute was enough to give City an away tie at Solihull Moors in the next round.

The headline maker from Saturday, Holbeach keeper Ricky Drury was once again centre stage, making several great saves to keep the score to two with Nathan Vaughan having a relatively quiet evening.

City made seven changes from Saturdays game with Nathan Vaughan, Tyler Weir, Jamie Smith, Daniel Nti, Ellis Deeney, Deon Burton and Sean Geddes all starting the game.

City were to have a host of chances in the first half with Daniel Nti dragging a shot wide in the 6th minute before causing problems down the right wing for the visitors. On 24 minutes Deon Burton forced Drury into the first of many saves, getting down well to his strike from 20 yards out.

Two minutes later Sean Geddes put Ashley Vincent through but again Drury was there to make a fine save.

City continued to push forward with Daniel Nti setting up Geddes whose shot was tipped over the bar by Drury then within a minute Geddes' chip from the edge of the box bounced off the bar into the path of Ashley Vincent who fired over.

Holbeach fought back, going straight up the other end with Tommy Treacher's goal bound header cleared off the line by Jamie Smith.

City's dominance finally paid off in the 37th minute with Daniel Nti creating a chance from nowhere, shooting from the edge of the box, beating the stretching Drury at the far post.

Gary King then forced Nathan Vaughan into a save on 40 minutes for Holbeach.

The second half was much the same with Vincent going close with a header for City early on, then Andrew Tidswell's cross was cleared by Vaughan for the visitors.

Jamie Smith then shot from range after a great end to end move for City, going narrowly wide of the near post.

Finally City added a second. Sean Geddes' teasing chipped cross into the box could only be parried into the path of Deon Burton who shot on the half volley into the roof of the net.

City had further chances through Jackman, Gudger and Geddes but any hope of a fairytale come back was never really on the cards and City comfortably saw the rest of the match out.
