Worcester City 1 Solihull Moors 0

Lee Hughes made it 7 goals from 9 appearances to fire City through in the FA Cup, thanks to a dramatic injury time winner against a previously unbeaten Solihull Moors team.

The win puts City through to the 4th Qualifying Round and a long trip away at Gateshead.

Moors got off to a good start & Stefan Moore had a golden opportunity to open the scoring after a missed header from Tom Sharpe but his shot beat Nathan Vaughan before hitting the inside of the post and the ball rolled along the goal line.

Then minutes later Ryan Beswick forced Vaughan into tipping his shot around the post.

City's slow start was soon put behind them as Connor Gater's 25 yard shot was saved by Moors keeper Ben Siegrist. Seconds later Siegrist was there again to deny Sean Geddes from long range.

On 25 minutes, City had a penalty appeal turned down when Shaun Harrad appeared to be brought down in the box by Michael Nottingham.

On the stroke of half time City were forced into a change with Jamie Smith being stretchered off after a clash of heads to be replaced by Wayne Thomas.

The second half started slowly with the first chance coming to Jack Byrne for Moors on 58 minutes with his strike being saved well by Nathan Vaughan.

City continued to press with the excellent Connor Gater running the midfield with Sean Geddes having his best game of the season. On 60 minutes Lee Hughes' curling effort narrowly beat the upright, before another volley was tipped over by Siegrist.

City's second half pressure nearly forced an opener as Lee Hughes had another effort cleared, this time off the line.

With minutes remaining Moors thought they had scored the winner as Gareth Dean headed home from free kick from midway in the City half, only to be ruled out for offside.

But the winner came deep into injury time. Excellent work by Lee Hughes put Sean Geddes through on the right wing whose cross was deflected for a corner. Ellis Deeney came up to to take the corner playing it short for Geddes, his one-two was whipped in to the near post by Deeney for Lee Hughes to flick home on the volley sparking great celebrations by the City fans.

With seconds remaining Solihull were unable to get the ball back an suffered their first defeat of the season.
