A YOUNG and experimental City outfit bowed out of the Polymac Packaging League Cup with a 2-0 reverse at Littleton.
City went close early on when Tom Fishwick saw a towering header cleared off the line by Brett Fellows but it was the home side who started to impose themselves on proceedings as the game went on.
We fell behind mid-way through the first half when the lively Dan Carter lifted the ball over the advancing Tom Palmer in the City goal.
The young ‘keeper did well shortly afterwards to deny Dale Edwards as we went in at the break a goal down.
Chances were few and far between at either end after the break, although Carter went close with ambitious effort from distance just past the hour-mark.
Our young side continued to battle away with Aaron Brett coming off the substitutes’ bench and looking lively, but the tie was sealed late on when Robbie Agar linked up well with Mike Wright who was able to poke the ball home.
In the end it was a disappointing exit from this particular Cup competition as we went out with something of a whimper.
