City booked themselves a spot in the 2nd Round Proper of the FA Vase following 2 v 1 win over league rivals, Long Eaton.
Going into the match saw the return of Mat Birley and Jamie Smith with Adam Osbourne reporting ill and Liam Lockett dropping to the bench.
It was Long Eaton who started the better with two great chances for Zak Goodson who saw both efforts stopped by another great performance by Dan Jezeph.
On 20 minutes though a fierce drive by Jamie Smith earned a corner, much to the surprise of many watching who didnt see a deflection at all. The resulting corner was played short into the feet of Tyler Weir who found himself in space on the right hand side of the box before smashing a left footed effort into the top corner.
On 37 minutes Weir was at it again, after some brilliant football between Jamie Smith who pinged an across field ball to Chris Withington who first time later the ball inside for Tyler Weir who hit an across goal effort which took a wicked deflection and beat the Long Eaton keeper.
Just a minute after going two ahead, Long Eaton pulled a goal back, from a corner the ball fell to Zak Goodwin, his effort appeared to be cleared off the line but the linesman gave the decision to award the goal.
With Long Eaton's tails up they began to press right before half time but right on 45, Faulkner went in over the top on Jamie Smith and earned himself a second yellow and a red leaving his team with a mountain to climb in the 2nd half.
Into the second half and it really left with nothing to report. No real chances came about and the referee seemed to find his cards and notebook far too many times which stopped the flow of the game.
City go into Monday's draw and the unbeaten run continues.
